LIFE AS A CUMBRIAN AT UNI- PRESTON EDITION

Helloooooo!

It's me, I haven't died, ran away with my next-door neighbour or became a stripper. just been living my best life, getting drunk and getting into debt. Uni life, hey.

If you can remember more than me, you might remember that when I went to Bolton uni (bad times, let's not remember that whole experience), I have done a post about being a Cumbrian student. Well that was 2 years ago so I think it deserves an update.

Lets go!

  1. People will think you're Geordie and they will make you say curly wurly, laugh at the way you say no, door, poor, hello... The list goes on.
  2. You will get stupidly defensive when some moron from Manchester tries and says he's more northern than you. Back away Oasis, you're basically midlands.
  3. Cheese xl will always hold a place in your heart, forever.
  4. You'll say a word and receive blank faces because did you know that no one uses the word ratch????? Horrified.
  5. You have to come to terms with the fact that if you have to go on the southbound motorway, you're in the south. Anything past Lancaster and the water tastes shit, the skies go dull and everything is flat.
  6. People panic when a drop of water touches the floor, all of a sudden Grannies are screaming, parents grab their kids and all hell breaks loose. Just put your big coat on and get on with it.
  7. When you're drunk you'll talk so fast no one single person will understand you and next minute your teaching Charlie, 23 from Wales how to say "az garn yam, marra". Memories.
  8. nothing beats Pedro kebabs, I'm sorry, I said it.
  9. You will without a doubt, lose your head you meet a fellow Cumbria, it's like we are the last to walk the earth as we are frantically talking about the stain burn/Southfield rivalry, uppies and downies and "Here, do you know my cousin then??"
  10. And finally, you will forever think that Cumbria is the best place on earth (even though Yankees closed down, Keswick is full of tourists with walking sticks and your ex lives there) and you will fight anyone who says otherwise.
Cumbria, what a wonderful place.
